Seven Special Rapporteurs and the Chair-Rapporteur of the Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances wrote a communication to the Government of Sri Lanka. The communication concerned information received about alleged restrictions and obstructions imposed on memorialization efforts carried out by Tamil civil society to
commemorate Maaveerar Naal (Heroes’ Day), and the alleged arrest and/or
detention of participants or organizers of these events, pursuant to the
Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
